Mankatha takes best opening of 2011

Ajith’s 50th golden jubilee film Mankatha, has taken the best ever opening for a film in 2011. In Tamil Nadu, Ajith’s core area the film has done 93 % opening in 350 plus screens.
In Chennai and suburbs (Chengalpet area), the film was screened in nearly 85 screens. The opening astounded the trade, as Ajith had disbanded his fan clubs three months back.

Still loyal fans of the actor came out early in the morning to do “Paalabishekam” on cut-outs of the actor outside theatres like Albert in Egmore, Rocky in Ambattur and many other single screens in TN.
It was fan frenzy everywhere as morning shows which started as early as 5am (Kasi) and multiplexes 8am (Sathyam) got full houses. In fact Sathyam Cinemas screened Mankatha as morning show in all their six screens and got 100 % collections, something that last happened only for Rajinikanth’s Endhiran!
At Mayajaal multiplex on ECR, all the 14 screens showed Mankatha on Ramzan day (Aug 31), and all 70 shows were houseful! The figures are yet to be tabulated, but Mankatha will be Ajith’s best ever opening day collections.
